Look How Well Socialism Works!!!!
The Zimbabwe government has start is cutting the food rations it’s handing out to it’s citizens:
A series of poor harvests have left many Zimbabweans chronically malnourished. Across vast swathes of the countryside one meal a day is the norm – and more than five million people are expected to need food aid by the end of the year.
The WFP is distributing supplies to four million people this month, but said it had had no response at all to an appeal for an extra $140 million (£90 million) in October, and its stocks would start running out next month as a result.
It is cutting rations from 12kg (26lb) of cereals a month to 10kg (22lb), and reducing pulses from 1.8kg (4lb) to 1kg (2.2lb).
“It will unfortunately mean that at the end of the month our beneficiaries will be in a slightly more vulnerable state and hungrier than if they had received a full ration,” said Richard Lee, the organisation’s spokesman in Johannesburg.
He was “surprised” at the lack of response from its donors, who are mostly Western governments. Some observers have suggested that the global financial crisis may be responsible, while others attribute it to waiting for the country’s power-sharing negotiations to be concluded.
Hey!! Aren’t we the West? We must not be giving them any money. What was it Rev. Wright said about America?
Agriculture has been destroyed by President Robert Mugabe’s mismanagement, with the commercial sector ruined by land seizures and even subsistence cultivation suffering from a lack of seeds and fertiliser, and government-controlled prices that do not give farmers any incentive to produce a surplus.
Land seizures, government-controlled prices, NO INCENTIVE TO WORK DUE TO HAND OUTS!!!!!
Let me get this straight, if you give people a bunch of handouts, they don’t get off their butts and actually work and production goes down. Hmmmmmmm. Sounds like a presidential campaign socialism.
Contrary to Mr Mugabe’s claims that the West is responsible for the suffering of Zimbabwe’s people, the US has already given the WFP $105 million, and Britain $18 million.
Wait a second. The United States gave Zimbabwe 105 million in aid so far, more than any other nation, and we’re responsible?
Am I missing something here Rev Wright?
