Reports show that Speaker of the House, Queen Nancy Pelosi, pays more than $18,000/month for her office in San Francisco. That’s nearly doubles the amount of the second place finisher in the rent race. Second place belongs to Rep. Jerrold Nadler who just edges out Rep. Jose Serrano, $10,600 to $10,350 per month…… Both are democrats.
Of course the Queen claims that the Speakership requires more amenities and security than the other pee-ons reps but compare that amount to what Denny Hastert paid when he was speaker in 2006. That amount was $4,300/month and Hastert was a MUCH larger person than Pelosi and should have required even more security to protect his largess. Well……. I guess I should take in account the size of Nancy’s bloated head……
A little more of that elitist, entitlement attitude from the democrats. No surprise.
Hey!!!!!! It’s no big deal… It’s just tax money being spent. It doesn’t affect us.
Pelosi tells C-SPAN: ‘There has never been a more open process’
By Eric Zimmermann and Michael O’Brien - 01/05/10 03:29 PM ET
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) defended Congress’ work on a healthcare bill Tuesday saying the process has displayed historic transparency, just as C-SPAN mounts an effort to open the negotiations.
C-SPAN wrote a letter to congressional leaders Tuesday asking that TV cameras be allowed to film negotiations to reconcile the House and Senate versions of healthcare reform legislation.
But Pelosi said Congress has already been transparent throughout the process.
“There has never been a more open process for any legislation,” Pelosi said at a press conference.
If Nancy’s nose could actually grow when she tells a lie, she wouldn’t need a new plane to fly home to Frisco…… She could just pole vault herself home……
The only people this process is open to are the people behind the closed doors and they ain’t talkin’
Face-lifts, tummy tucks and hair transplants could be hit with a new tax to help finance the trillion-dollar healthcare overhaul plan, according to sources familiar with the Senate talks.
The Senate Finance Committee has discussed imposing a 10 percent excise tax on cosmetic surgery deemed unnecessary for medical purposes. The idea was broached in a meeting with OMB Director Orszag in mid-July, after which Senate Finance Chairman Max Baucus told reporters he had heard some “interesting,” “creative,” and “kind of fun” ideas.
The tax, which has not been officially scored, would plug some of the revenue gap senators are seeking to fill to keep on schedule for a markup the week of Aug. 3. It would target procedures prohibited under Section 213 of the tax code, which deals with itemized deductions for medical expenses not covered by health insurance.
I’m thinking if you tax the amount Nancy Pelosi has spent on building her face you would almost have enough to clear the national debt.
Nancy won’t care though because she knows it’s her duty as a rich person to pay her fair share……..
Under strong attack from Republicans, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi accused the CIA and Bush administration of misleading her about waterboarding detainees in the war on terror and sharply rebutted claims she was complicit in the method’s use.
Well it’s a good thing she’s not made of wood cause that old nose would be HUGE by now.
It’s the CIA’s fault…. Yeah…. That’s it!!!!
This woman tells more stories than my 6 year old……
It turns out that Nancy Pelosi has amended her story once again. I’ve lost track on how many times she’s gone into a different CYA mode on the waterboarding issue.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi learned in early 2003 that the Bush administration was waterboarding terror detainees but didn’t protest directly out of respect for “appropriate” legislative channels, a person familiar with the situation said Monday.
I only have to post the first paragraph to prove she’s lying. When has Pelosi EVER had any respect for appropriate legislative channels? It’s a flat out lie…….
Intelligence officials released documents this evening saying that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was briefed in September 2002 about the use of harsh interrogation tactics against al-Qaeda prisoners, seemingly contradicting her repeated statements over the past 18 months that she was never told that these techniques were actually being used.
In a 10-page memo outlining an almost seven-year history of classified briefings, intelligence officials said that Pelosi and then-Rep. Porter Goss (R-Fla.) were the first two members of Congress ever briefed on the interrogation tactics. Then the ranking member and chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, respectively, Pelosi and Goss were briefed Sept. 4, 2002, one week before the first anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
As Michelle Malkin so eloquently states: She knew. From Day One.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is pushing back on GOP charges that she knew about waterboarding for years and did nothing.
Pelosi says she was briefed by Bush administration officials on the legal justification for using waterboarding — but that they never followed through on promises to inform her when they actually began using “enhanced” interrogation techniques
“In that or any other briefing…we were not, and I repeat, were not told that waterboarding or any of these other enhanced interrogation techniques were used. What they did tell us is that they had some legislative counsel … opinions that they could be used,” she told reporters.
Ah yes…. Pulling the old Sgt. Schultz….. I see NOTHING!!!!!!
Pelosi says members who receive classified intelligence briefings are powerless to act on them — or even discuss them with staff — due to confidentiality requirements.
As a consequence, some members simply skip classified briefings to avoid being “hamstrung” by requirements they keep silent on the topics discussed.
Soooooo now she knew but couldn’t say anything??? Or maybe she wasn’t even there????? I’m confused……
In September 2002, four members of Congress met in secret for a first look at a unique CIA program designed to wring vital information from reticent terrorism suspects in U.S. custody. For more than an hour, the bipartisan group, which included current House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), was given a virtual tour of the CIA’s overseas detention sites and the harsh techniques interrogators had devised to try to make their prisoners talk.
Among the techniques described, said two officials present, was waterboarding, a practice that years later would be condemned as torture by Democrats and some Republicans on Capitol Hill. But on that day, no objections were raised. Instead, at least two lawmakers in the room asked the CIA to push harder, two U.S. officials said.
I’m not usually one trust what members of the MSM say but it’s their word against Pelosi’s. Yeah……. I’ll believe the reporters.
The question remains………. How can we get Nancy to tell the truth???
I’m racking my brain and can’t seem to come up with a way to make Nancy Talk…..
A blizzard Sunday night and early Monday morning blanketed the nation’s capital with snow, causing events to be cancelled and delayed across the city.
A few more words just because:
House Select Energy Independence and Global Warming Chairman Edward Markey (D-Mass.), who was scheduled to speak at the global warming event, also canceled his appearance because of the inclement weather, a spokesman from his committee’s office told CNSNews.com on Monday.
Speaker Pelosi’s office confirmed to CNSNews.com that her flight had been delayed, but they could not say where the flight was coming from or whether she was flying commercial or charter.
Commercial flight????? Now THAT’S funny. The Queen fly commercial…… Oh man now I gotta pee……
HURRY, FELLAS, LET'S VOTE, I AM OFF TO ROME!
Fri Feb 13 2009 09:18:52 ET
Rep. John Culberson, TX claims the "stimulus" bill must be urgently voted on today -- because Speaker Nancy Pelosi is leaving at 6:00 PM for an 8 day trip to Europe!
Culberson made the charge on Houston's KSEV radio.
Pelosi is hoping to lead a delegation to Europe; there's a meeting with the Pope and an award from an Italian legislative group.
Talk about a pet project. A tiny mouse with the longtime backing of a political giant may soon reap the benefits of the economic-stimulus package.
Lawmakers and administration officials divulged Wednesday that the $789 billion economic stimulus bill being finalized behind closed doors in Congress includes $30 million for wetlands restoration that the Obama administration intends to spend in the San Francisco Bay Area to protect, among other things, the endangered salt marsh harvest mouse.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi represents the city of San Francisco and has previously championed preserving the mouse’s habitat in the Bay Area.
The revelation immediately became a political football, as Republicans accused Democrats of reneging on a promise to keep so-called earmarks that fund lawmakers’ favorite projects out of the legislation. Democrats, including Mrs. Pelosi, countered that the accusations were fabricated.
Obummer’s official stance on whether it’s pork or not:
President Obama boasts that the stimulus plan contains no earmarks because Congress technically did not use the earmark process for lawmakers to request and drop in specific spending items.
No PORK here…. None….
Exactly how is this going to STIMULATE the economy?
I know everybody’s heard that this speech by the stumblin’ bumblin’ Queen of the dingbats, Nancy Pelosi, was the reason that the 700 billion dollar government bailout of the government.
It’s kind of like getting pulled over for speeding. You know you’re probably not going to like the cop but you have to try to get out of the ticket, right, but the first thing out of your mouth is “Hey Dips**t. Why the F**K did you pull me over?” What do you think the results will be?
I’ve never heard Nancy Pelosi’s name used in a sentence that mentioned anything about high IQ……
Well anyway. While listening to all of the news accounts of what happened yesterday, I picked up on a common theme. It’s the republicans fault. The republicans are blaming Peeeelosi for being a bitch.
Now let’s take a look at the numbers
The overall vote was 228 nays to 205 ayes. Now let’s dig a bit deeper…..
Voting yes were 140 Democrats and 65 Republicans.
Voting no were 95 Democrats and 133 Republicans.
More democrats voted no than republicans voted yes. If you draw this down party lines to make this partisan and you figure in a bunch of the usual RINO’s, the 65 yes votes by republicans is politics as usual but the 95 no votes by democrats is stunning. You hardly ever here of a democrat voting against the party.
Will you hear about this? No. Pelosi, Reed, Frank and the whole BDS crew will continually blame the republicans because that’s all they’ve got. It’s back to politics as usual on the Hill and business as usual for the MSM.
When we were kids, we all played a variation of the game “Let’s Pretend” in which we pretended to do something or be somebody knowing it was make-believe. The authors of this bill are playing “Let’s Pretend” with the American people, pretending they are passing a bill to increase domestic energy production when they know it will do no such thing.
By eliminating revenue sharing for the states in royalties for offshore oil and gas drilling while requiring states to approve the drilling leases, the bill’s sponsors know it is unlikely the states will bother to give their approval. Even Democratic Senator Mary Landrieu of Louisiana has said this bill “will not see the light of day in the Senate” should it pass the House.
The bill prohibits drilling less than 50 miles offshore when the sponsors know that, to give an example, 95% of the known reserves off the coast of California are less than 50 miles out.
Once again, as in other energy legislation, the bill needlessly increases taxes that only serve to increase the cost of energy. The bill will also increase electricity bills for the average consumer by forcing utility companies to use alternative fuels regardless of the cost. This provision has already been rejected by the Senate in a previous energy bill.
The American people are demanding we change our bankrupt energy policy which has prevented the U.S. from utilizing our own resources and made us dangerously dependent on foreign oil supplies from unfriendly countries. They will not fall for a bill full of gimmicks which does not do the job.
Playing on the stupidity of the people who voted her into office, she’s thinking the rest of us are just as dumb. Not so much. Well say how this is played out in the MSM and the campaigns. If McCain doesn’t jump all over this, the dems will take full advantage of the slanted coverage they’re getting.
Cindy Sheehan to Challenge Pelosi for Seat in Congress
(CNSNews.com) – Cindy Sheehan, the anti-war activist who is perhaps best known for protesting the Iraq war outside President Bush’s Crawford, Texas, ranch, has qualified for the November ballot to run against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for California’s 8th U.S. House District seat.
The San Francisco Department of Elections lists Sheehan as an Independent, alongside Democrat Pelosi, Republican Dana Walsh and Libertarian candidate Philip Z. Berg as the four candidates that qualified for the ballot in the Eighth District.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called congressional Republicans who want up-or-down drilling votes “hand maidens of the oil companies.” Let’s call Pelosi what she is: House girl of the Big Wind boondogglers.
Though she seemingly backtracked on labeling drilling a “hoax” this week, Pelosi refuses to consider GOP energy proposals that don’t include massive government subsidies for eco-fantastical alternatives that have never panned out.
Which brings us to Madame Speaker’s 2007 financial disclosure form. Schedule III lists “assets and ‘unearned income’” of between $100,001-$250,000 from Clean Energy Fuels Corp. – Public Common Stock.” Clean Energy Fuels Corp. is a natural gas provider founded by T. Boone Pickens. Yep, that T. Boone Pickens– former oilman-turned-wind power evangelist whose ads touting a national wind campaign are now as ubiquitous as Viagra promos.
Pickens and Pelosi now share the same talking points downplaying the need to drill and open up more access to American oil. Instead, the Pickens pie-in-the-sky plan campaign proposes to completely replace natural gas with wind power in power generation and theoretically free up natural gas for America’s transportation needs.
I posted Pickens’ reasoning for not wanting to drill a few weeks back. I should’ve known there was more to it.
What was it Nancy said in November 2006? Oh yeah, I remember…
“The American people voted to restore integrity and honesty in Washington, D.C., and the Democrats intend to lead the most honest, most open and most ethical Congress in history.”
Hmmmm. Padding the Queens pocketbook. Yeah, that’s ethical.
PELOSI: I would not. It depends how the drilling is put forth. But I don’t — that is not excluded, let me say it that way. It depends how that is proposed, if the safeguards are there. Now, mind you, 68 million acres — 10 million more acres in Alaska where they can drill. But if there’s — if we can get some great things, in terms of renewable energy resources; a renewable electricity standard; wind, solar, biofuels and the rest in that context, because if you make a decision only to go with the offshore drilling, you are increasing our dependence on fossil fuels and you will never free yourself of that addiction unless you invest in the renewable energy resources that are good for the environment, cheaper for the consumer and will reverse global warming.
And the consumer is our first responsibility. The American taxpayer owns this oil offshore, by the way. Let me make this one final point. This oil is owned by the American taxpayers. The oil companies drill. We give them money to drill there. But we get very little in return.
So I think as we have this debate, which is a very healthy one to have and I welcome it, we have to review and realign the relationship between our oil, big oil’s profits and what it means to the consumer and the taxpayer.
Hmm. You welcome the debate, eh Nancy. That would explain you running away from the debate to try to sell that blockbuster of book. Yes it’s our oil and YOU are our employee. You talk about us getting very little in return from the oil companies, HA, we get less from our congress. STFU and get to work……
Swiped ENTIRELY from Ol’ Broad because she has such a nice way putting things in to perspective…
Queen Moonbat, aka Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi has been the most ineffective Speaker in my history of ….some odd years. Ok, more than 50!
Instead of dealing with REAL problems, we had a few bills and resolutions passed in THE PEOPLE’S HOUSE. Minimum wage, unleaded toys, slavery apology…even though there haven’t been any slaves or masters in quite a few years. One of the major issue facing our country right now is energy independence.
Some folks may see the Republicans as pulling a stunt by staying “in session”, even though Pelosi adjourned Congress on Friday. The DO NOTHING Congress, under the leadership of the Dhimmicrats are putting our country in danger on many levels. Drilling for oil is just issue that should have been addressed.
Sign the petition demanding that Speaker Moonbat recall the Congress. I had hoped that Bush would have recalled them, but I think Bush is on a mental vacation till the end of his term. EXTREMELY disappointing!
