Sunday Funny!!

Some things are just too good to pass up….

The Bewildered Texan

While hiking down along the border this morning, I saw a Muslim extremist fall into the Rio Grande River; he was struggling to stay afloat because of all the guns and bombs he was carrying. Along with him was a Mexican who was also struggling to stay afloat because of the large backpack of drugs that was strapped to his back. If they didn’t get help, they’d surely drown. Being a responsible Texan and abiding by the law to help those in distress, I informed the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and Homeland Security. It is now 4 PM, both have drowned, and neither authority has responded. I’m starting to think I wasted two stamps.

Walker On AZ’s SB1070

Scott Walker had a few concerns about AZ’s immigration bill but he went and did something USAG Eric Holder never even thought of doing……… He read the bill. He consulted with Arizona’s officials and looked at the facts and content of the bill and decided it’s a good bill.

I don’t have a problem with this.

Do you?

Please explain…..

A Message For Today’s Protesters….

While you’re out marching around letting everybody know how poor and oppressed you are in this country and not admitting that the place you came from is far worse and treats illegal immigrants with an iron fist, please remember that the American Flag you are waving is not a cape or a dress………. If you want to use the flag of YOUR country as a cape or dress, go right ahead.

Here ends today’s message…….. Carry on.

Richfield Crash Update

More has been released about the victims and the suspects in the tragic crash that I posted about yesterday.  From WTMJ

The three men in the flatbed truck were not injured. They are brothers from Milwaukee who authorities believe are in this county illegally. The Washington County Sheriff’s Department planned to turn Ricardo, Armando and Javier Guerrero over to federal immigration authorities on Monday or Tuesday.

“That’s pretty disappointing because we know there’s at least one way it could have prevented,” Sheriff Dale Schmidt told TODAY’S TMJ4 reporter Tom Murray. “That is, they shouldn’t have been in that place at that time driving a vehicle,”

Investigators are considering charges or citations against the driver, 38-year-old Ricardo Guerrero. They say he does have a valid Wisconsin driver’s license.

Now, please explain that to me.  How in the world can someone who is in the country illegally have a valid driver’s license?  But I suppose in a state in which you have to show ID to get sinus medication but not to vote, this shouldn’t be a surprise.

This is ludicrous.  When are we going to stand up and say enough is enough?  The laws in this state are back-asswards.  Not a citizen?  No problem!  Driver’s license and reduced tuition for you!  Wanna vote?  No problem!  No identification needed!  Having sinus issues?  Wait one minute there – need to see identification and type it into the computer so we can make sure you’re not running a meth lab.  For heaven’s sake – when will this madness end?

For an excellent commentary on this, I recommend you listen to this podcast.

Another Needless Tragedy

This just breaks my heart as it raises my blood pressure.

Karl Ziebart died traveling to a place he loved – his church.

On Sunday, the 42-year-old Richfield man; his 9-year-old son, Luke; and a 12-year-old girl from another family were killed when the SUV in which they were riding was hit by a truck that slid across an icy road in Washington County, according to authorities and the man’s brother.

The girl’s name could not be confirmed late Sunday. All three were pronounced dead at the scene.

Ziebart’s 40-year-old wife, Denise; the Ziebarts’ two other children; and the 12-year-old girl’s 11-year-old brother suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospitals, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Department.

Amber Ziebart, 14, and her 11-year-old brother, Zechariah, underwent surgery at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and were stable, said Karl Ziebart’s brother, Bernie.

Denise Ziebart, who was at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa, was not stable enough for surgery as of late Sunday, Bernie Ziebart said.

The condition of the other 11-year-old boy could not be confirmed.

Three men who were in the 1-ton flatbed truck were not injured. Their names had not been released by the Sheriff’s Department.

A horrible tragedy.  I urge you to read the entire article to learn more about the victims.   So, why is my blood pressure going up?  Why am I just so freakin’ mad I could spit?

The truck’s driver and his two passengers – ages 30 and 31, both of Milwaukee – were detained on suspicion of being in the country illegally, according to the Sheriff’s Department. They are in custody at the Washington County Jail.

When, in the name of all that is holy, will people start enforcing the immigration laws?  If the government would have gotten tough years ago, this family might still be intact.

DOJ Investigating Sheriff For Enforcing The Law

The law is after the law for enforcing the law…..

Apparently unaware of what the definition of “ILLEGAL” is, some looney congressional democrats and liberal activist groups have asked the Department of Justice to investigate Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and his officers for enforcing immigration laws.

( – The Department of Justice (DOJ) has launched an investigation of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office in Arizona following requests by congressional Democrats and allegations by liberal activists that the department has violated the civil rights of illegal aliens.

Reps. John Conyers (D-Mich.), Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.), and Robert Scott (D-Va.) requested the investigation, and activists groups such as National Day Laborer Organizer Network and ACORN launched petition drives and rallies in support of the probe.

The investigation focuses on Sheriff Joe Arpaio and dozens of officers under his command who were trained through the Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Agreements of Cooperation in Communities to Enhance Safety and Security (ACCESS), which partners federal and local law enforcement to enforce immigration laws. (The Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement division is known popularly as ICE.)

“The investigation will focus on alleged patterns or practices of discriminatory police practices and unconstitutional searches and seizures conducted by the MCSO, and on allegations of national origin discrimination, including failure to provide meaningful access to MCSO services for limited English proficient (LEP) individuals.”

“In conducting the investigation, we will seek to determine whether there are violations of the above laws by the MCSO,” the letter says.

Sheriff Arpaio’s efforts to enforce immigration laws have been the focus of previous criticism, but Arpaio has defended his department and the results his ICE-trained officers have netted.

Concerning the DOJ’s investigation, Arpaio told “I will not back down. What I am doing is upholding the laws of the state of Arizona, and I will not be persuaded to turn my back on my oath of office as sheriff of this county.”

Imagine the gall of Sheriff Joe. Taking his oath of office seriously.

I’m thinking some of these loons need to watch some news and do it soon. There is  a war going on at the southern border and these people don’t get it.  Has anybody asked these dipsticks why we might possibly send the military to this area?

Ex-Border Agents Released

Well it’s about time

Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean have been released from federal prison after serving more than two years in solitary confinement for the non-fatal shooting of a Mexican drug smuggler.

Ramos and Compean were sentenced to 11 years and 12 years respectively for the 2005 shooting of Osvaldo Aldrete-Davila, a Mexican national now in prison for attempting to smuggle hundreds of pounds of marijuana in to the U.S. (Emphasis mine)

I don’t think that they should have spent one day in prison.  I think there is something terribly wrong with a judicial system wherein men who are doing their jobs end up incarcerated for doing said job.  Although I believe that Bush should have pardoned them, I’m glad to see that they are reunited with their families.

Voces de la Frontera Strikes Again

Well, they’re at it again.   Voces de la Frontera is stepping up its effort to convince Gov. Jim Doyle to allow illegal immigrants to obtain certificates that would allow them to drive and get car insurance.  One passage in the article really stands out to me.

“We’re not talking about criminals here, but working people who need to drive to New Berlin and Mequon to clean buildings, or take a family member to the hospital and to do so safely and with insurance,” said Tony Baez, president and CEO of the Council for the Spanish Speaking, another coalition member.

We’re not talking criminals?  Really?  What is it about illegal immigrants that these groups fail to understand?  They ARE criminals.  They are in this country ILLEGALLY.  That, my friends, is a crime in and of itself.  The fact that they have not broken any other laws is really not relevant.

Congress passed the REAL ID Act in 2005. It requires all states to check a person’s immigration status before issuing a driver’s license or state ID. Only drivers who are citizens or have legal status can qualify.

In response, Wisconsin passed a law in 2006 that required proof of citizenship or legal status, including a Social Security number, to get a driver’s license. The REAL ID does allow states to issue a driver’s license certificate to residents without Social Security numbers.

I fail to understand why so many would oppose this.  Driving is a privilege, NOT a right.  I am sick and tired of people who are in the country ILLEGALLY shouting about their rights.  They have no rights.  None.  Nada.  If they want rights, they should do what so many do and come into this country LEGALLY.

So illegal Mexicans come to this country and complain about our unfair immigration laws. They come here and work illegally. Some commit crimes, Many are allowed to buy homes and cars and most get a slap on the wrist if they’re caught.

What happens when a US citizen illegally enters Mexico????

Well here you go. From Fox News:

An American veteran of the Iraq War is being held in a notoriously dangerous prison in Juarez, Mexico, charged with carrying weapons over the border in his car.

Army Spc. Richard Raymond Medina Torres, on leave from his base at Fort Hood, Tex., was arrested in Juarez April 21 when he said he mistakenly crossed the border and found himself on the Mexican side of the Bridge of the Americas.

Medina Torres, 25, told Mexican officials that he intended to park his car in El Paso and walk across the border for breakfast, but got lost on the highway and was forced to cross into Mexico.

According to the El Paso Times, Mexican border police stopped him as he attempted a U-turn, and Medina Torres was arrested when they found an AR-15 rifle and handgun in his trunk. The newspaper said that Medina Torres said he’d bought the guns years before and had all the proper permits. However possession of firearms in Mexico is illegal and strictly controlled.

“It’s a very sticky situation for foreigners to have weapons in Mexico,” said a spokesman at the bureau of consular affairs at the State Department. “The laws are stricter and narrower there,” he said.

Medina Torres, a helicopter mechanic, said he was on his way to Fresno, Calif., to visit his mother in time for her birthday Thursday. His mother told that while on route, he wanted to make a pit stop for a Mexican breakfast, but instead got lost. That is when he was arrested, she said.

“It was his very first time,” said Gloria Medina. “All he wanted was a good Mexican meal.”

He never got his meal, and is now waiting in the infamous Cereso prison, a jail for some of Mexico’s most violent drug smugglers, for a Mexican judge to decide his fate.

His mother said, “He told me ‘Mother, all I do is pray and sleep, pray and sleep.’”

Medina Torres was with charged with carrying weapons over the border in his car and an additional and much more serious charge of possession of a military-style weapon, which has since been dropped. If sentenced, Medina Torres could face from 3 to 10 years in prison, according to the El Paso Times.

The guy made a wrong turn, got lost and was trying to turn around and come back and now he faces up to 10 years in prison.

Remember this the next time the Mexican government bitches about OUR immigration laws and the handling of illegal immigrants in OUR country……

SCOTUS: Indiana Voter ID Upheld.

Ok Captain WEAC, It’s time you and your democrat cohorts in the State Senate give us chance to vote on this….

From Michelle Malkin:

The Supreme Court ruled Monday that states can require voters to show photo identification at the polls, in a closely watched case with important ramifications for the 2008 elections.

In a 6-3 decision, the justices upheld an earlier decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit.

Proponents of the Indiana law at issue in the case, Crawford v. Marion County Election Board, said the state’s interest in preventing voter impersonation fraud outweighs whatever burden might be placed on a small number of people. Opponents argued that the Indiana law unfairly burdens poor and elderly voters, who tend to favor Democrats but are least likely to have driver’s licenses or passports.

The Justice Department sided with Indiana in the case, agreeing that the voter ID requirement is constitutional.

The best comment over at Malkin’s was from Wade

“I can’t believe we’re reduced to cheering for common sense”

Absopuke Vodka….Update

Here’s a response from Absolut Vodka:

The In An Absolut World advertising campaign invites consumers to visualize a world that appeals to them — one they feel may be more idealized or one that may be a bit “fantastic.” As such, the campaign will elicit varying opinions and points of view. We have a variety of executions running in countries worldwide, and each is germane to that country and that population.

This particular ad, which ran in Mexico, was based upon historical perspectives and was created with a Mexican sensibility. In no way was this meant to offend or disparage, nor does it advocate an altering of borders, nor does it lend support to any anti-American sentiment, nor does it reflect immigration issues. Instead, it hearkens to a time which the population of Mexico may feel was more ideal.

As a global company, we recognize that people in different parts of the world may lend different perspectives or interpret our ads in a different way than was intended in that market. Obviously, this ad was run in Mexico, and not the US — that ad might have been very different.

Here’s an email Michelle Malkin posted that was sent to Absocrap Vodka by one of her readers.

Your map is just plain damn dumb. Apparently you and the market base you are pandering to is really, really short in the history department.

In July, 1848, the United States government purchased that portion of what is now Texas, save and except that part already given independence from Mexico (i.e. The Republic of Texas), all of what is now New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, California, Utah, Wyoming and a part of Colorado for a total of $15MM in 1848 dollars, and the then existing Mexican debt (whatever that was).

If Absolut Vodka and your intended market base want to talk about re-purchasing all that land, PLUS IMPROVEMENTS AND SERVICES, in today’s dollars, I for one will talk to you about my half-acre in North Texas. The purchase price shall include all the improvements surrounding the property plus the cost of installation of all utilities and services to the property, and my specific property’s fair reimbursement of the costs of illegal alien benefits from city, county, state and federal services.

I’ll never drink this stuff again….. That’s all I have to say about it. If I sat down and guzzled down a bunch of Rehorst martinis, I’m sure I’d have more to say.

Authors revision: I changed the title…… I like Absopuke better.
