Walker On AZ’s SB1070

Scott Walker had a few concerns about AZ’s immigration bill but he went and did something USAG Eric Holder never even thought of doing……… He read the bill. He consulted with Arizona’s officials and looked at the facts and content of the bill and decided it’s a good bill.

I don’t have a problem with this.

Do you?

Please explain…..

Walker for Governor

A great story on Walker’s announcement…

Scott Walker promised a new frugality for Wisconsin if he’s elected governor, denounced Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle for driving up spending and taxes and touted his efforts as Milwaukee County executive, before an appreciative crowd of several hundred Tuesday at Wisconsin Lutheran College in Wauwatosa.

While those words were welcomed at his last of five stops Tuesday formally announcing his Republican candidacy for governor, it was about a third of the way into his set speech when Walker really fired up the faithful.

Then, as if by the flip of a switch, the normally low-key Walker suddenly amped up his rhetoric, sometimes shouting his words.

“I’m gonna run for governor to bring this state back!” Walker yelled, as the crowd erupted. “I believe in Wisconsin! I believe in Wisconsin,” he roared.

No more welfare-haven reputation! No more frivolous lawsuits! Less government! Walker was on a roll, preaching a populist conservative sermon.

I really think Scott Walker is the man for the job.  His is a fiscal conservative, something this state desperately needs.  A quote in this article made me pause, however…

State Democratic Party Chairman Joe Wineke criticized Walker’s announcement as too negative and said he should tend to problems in Milwaukee County.

“We’ve already seen the disastrous effects of Walker’s ‘no ideas’ approach in Milwaukee County,” Wineke said. “Before he starts looking for a new job, Walker should try doing the job he’s already been elected to and fix his rundown parks, crumbling infrastructure and failing public aid programs. (Emphasis mine)

Hmmm – perhaps the Chairman should read the news once in awhile…

Milwaukee County’s park system, the object of broad public fondness and concern over a massive maintenance backlog, has been picked as one of four large-city systems up for a national award for best parks.

The county parks system is a contender for the 2009 National Gold Medal for Excellence in the Park and Recreation Management Program. Leaders from the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration and the National Recreation and Park Association choose the top candidates each year. The prize will be announced at a conference in Salt Lake City in October.

I guess the mantra is so ingrained, that even when proven wrong they can’t stop.  I blame Scott Walker.

Scott Walker 2010

Scott made it official today.

JSOnline:

Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker on Tuesday formally launches his bid to unseat Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle with a full-throated attack on Doyle as a liberal big spender who’s flubbing his chance to fix the state’s deep budget deficit.

The 41-year-old Walker, a Republican, accuses Doyle of trying to raise state taxes and to shift some of the $5?billion deficit to the future. Walker also faults Doyle for proposing “a grab bag of every left-wing idea out there” in his 2009-’11 budget, including an early-release program for nonviolent prison inmates and requiring prevailing union wage rates to be paid on publicly funded building projects.

Those changes represent “a sellout to liberal special interests,” Walker said Monday. “This is turning back the clock to the same kind of hopelessness Wisconsin had in the early ’80s under (then Gov.) Tony Earl.”

This was a little blurb of a headline in the paper. Had this been a democrat there would’ve been pictures and all kinds of gushing……
